Our Beliefs

Please note that these beliefs are a general framework, and specific denominations or theological traditions may have additional or nuanced beliefs. It’s important to consult with the leaders and members of Wilderness Point Church to refine and tailor these beliefs according to the specific values and convictions of your congregation.

What we believe

  1. The Bible: We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, containing His truth and serving as the ultimate authority for our faith and conduct. We value both the Old and New Testaments as essential to understanding God’s plan for humanity.

  2. The Trinity: We believe in one God who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son (Jesus Christ), and the Holy Spirit. Each person of the Trinity is fully God, and yet distinct in their roles and relationships.

  3. Salvation: We believe that all human beings are sinners in need of salvation. Through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, salvation is offered as a free gift to all who place their faith in Him. Salvation cannot be earned by good works but is received by God’s grace alone.

  4. Jesus Christ: We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully human and fully divine. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and lived a sinless life. Jesus voluntarily gave His life on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, reconciling humanity to God. He rose from the dead, ascended to heaven, and will return one day to judge the living and the dead.

  5. Holy Spirit: We believe in the ongoing work of the Holy Spirit, who indwells believers, empowering them for Christian living, and equipping them with spiritual gifts. The Holy Spirit convicts, guides, and comforts us, and produces the fruit of righteousness in our lives.

  6. Church: We believe in the universal Church, the body of Christ, composed of all believers across time and space. We also believe in the importance of the local church as a community of believers, gathering for worship, fellowship, discipleship, and the proclamation of the Gospel.

  7. Sacraments: We believe in the two sacraments ordained by Jesus Christ: baptism and the Lord’s Supper (Communion). Baptism symbolizes the believer’s identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection, and the Lord’s Supper commemorates His sacrificial death, strengthening our faith and unity as a community.

  8. Eternal Life: We believe in the resurrection of the dead and the eternal life of believers in the presence of God. Those who have accepted Jesus Christ as their Savior will experience eternal joy and fellowship with God, while those who reject Him will face eternal separation from Him.

  9. Great Commission: We believe in fulfilling the Great Commission given by Jesus to make disciples of all nations, sharing the Gospel, and teaching them to obey everything He commanded.

  10. Love and Compassion: We believe in the commandment to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. We seek to demonstrate God’s love and compassion in our interactions with others, both within the church and in the wider community.
